Gainesville, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Former Michigan offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier has accepted the same position with Florida, the Gators athletic department announced Wednesday. Its the first major hire made by new Gators head coach Jim McElwain, who left Colorado State earlier this month to replace the fired Will Muschamp. Nussmeier, who supplanted McElwain as Alabamas offensive coordinator after the latter was named Colorado States head coach in December of 2011, became available when Michigan dismissed Brady Hoke at the conclusion of a disappointing 5-7 campaign in 2014. The onetime NFL quarterback and 1993 Walter Payton Award recipient previously worked with McElwain on John L. Smiths staff at Michigan State from 2003-05. Nussmeier was the Spartans quarterbacks coach and McElwain an assistant head coach in charge of wide receivers. Doug and I have worked together on the same staff and Ive known him for years, McElwain said. We are like thinkers in that he will adapt to the players we have in the program and develop them as we continue to evolve. Nussmeier had a successful run upon taking over for McElwain at Alabama, with the Crimson Tide establishing school records for points scored (542) and total offense while winning the 2012 BCS national championship. Alabama ranked seventh nationally in pass efficiency the following season, in which quarterback A.J. McCarron finished as the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy. His offense at Michigan didnt produce the same success, however, with the Wolverines averaging a modest 20.9 points per game and ranking 110th in FBS in passing yards. Nussmeier also replaced McElwain as offensive coordinator at Fresno State in 2008 following the new Gators head coachs move to Alabama. He was there one year before joining Steve Sarkisians staff as the OC at Washington, where he spent three seasons and helped the Huskies to a pair of bowl games. Im excited to reunite with Coach Mac -- we obviously have a long history and share similar philosophies, Nussmeier said. Im honored to join The Gator Nation and work for one of the most storied programs in all of college football. Nussmeier passed for 10,824 yards during his collegiate career at Idaho and played five seasons in the NFL with New Orleans and Indianapolis from 1994-98. Air Max 90 Scontate . After falling behind early, Albert scored two goals to propel the St. Johns IceCaps to a 5-2 win over the visiting Worcester Sharks in American Hockey League action. "It was just good to get the two points for the team, I think," Albert said. "We had a slow start but we came out in the second and third period and turned it on a little bit." "Well, its not the start we wanted for sure," added St. Johns head coach Keith McCambridge. "We go down the ice and get a chance and then it goes back down to our end and goes in the back of our net. As the game wore on I thought we got better and better. I thought the back-half of the second and the third periods were solid for us." Kael Mouillierat, Adam Lowry and Jerome Samson also scored for the IceCaps (28-17-3), who are 8-2-0 in their last 10 contests. Konrad Abeltshauser and Rylan Schwartz replied for the Sharks (22-19-4). Abeltshauser opened the scoring with a wrist shot from the point through traffic 35 seconds into the game. Mouillierat tied the game for the IceCaps, scoring a one-time wrister high-blocker side with 5:53 left in the first period..dddddddddddd. Sixteen seconds later, Albert took advantage of a loose puck in front of the net and gave the IceCaps the lead with a quick wrist shot. "You have to put (being down) behind you," said Albert. "You cant look too much into it. We battled back." At the 14:06 mark of the second, Samson made it 3-1 IceCaps when he finished a cross-crease pass from Kyle MacKinnon. Schwartz pulled the Sharks within a goal 12:12 into the second period with a high wrist shot on the end of a toe drag. Albert scored on a penalty shot 2:22 into the third period, as he chose to rip a quick and hard wrist shot from the slot past Worcester netminder Harri Sateri. "I really wasnt expecting to get the penalty shot, but Ill take advantage of it," Albert said. "I like to shoot on those chances, I dont really like to deke because you never know how the ice is going to be." The IceCaps went up 5-2 when Lowry found a loose puck off a rebound in front of the net and tapped it home 8:40 into the third. IceCaps goalie Michael Hutchinson made 31 saves for the win while Sateri stopped 22 shots for the Sharks. St. Johns went 0-for-3 on the pow
