STILLWATER, Okla. -- West Virginia has been praised for its solid defense in a league that doesnt offer much of it.The 10th-ranked Mountaineers (6-0, 3-0 Big 12) will be tested again Saturday. Oklahoma State (5-2, 3-1), led by strong-armed junior quarterback Mason Rudolph, ranks 11th nationally in passing offense and 14th in scoring with 41.1 points per game. The Mountaineers, who allowed just 17 points to Texas Tech and 10 to TCU, will need to be at their best to remain undefeated and in position for a spot in the College Football Playoff. The thing that scares you more than anything is just their drop back passing game, getting the ball down the field and scoring it in a hurry, West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen said. Theyre averaging 40-some points a game. Theyre capable of scoring more than that, so we have to be on guard with what theyre doing.West Virginia ranks 12th nationally in pass efficiency defense. The Mountaineers have seven interceptions, led by Rasul Douglas three picks. And the Mountaineers rank 15th nationally in scoring defense, despite ranking just 57th in total defense. They keep you out of the end zone and theyve got a good score-zone defense, Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich said. They do a nice job defending both the run and the pass, especially the pass. Theyre a unique defense in which they can drop eight defenders and then also play eight-man front football. So, theyre very unique in their style, they create some challenges for you offensively.Oklahoma States offense has become more dangerous in recent weeks since freshman running back Justice Hill emerged as a threat. The 170-pound speedster ranks third in conference play with 119 yards rushing per game. Here are some things of interest heading into Saturdays game:WATCHING WICKLINEWest Virginias offensive coordinator has quite a history with Oklahoma State. The former Cowboys offensive line coach took a job at Texas in 2014, and headaches followed. Oklahoma State sued him for breach of contract, arguing he made a lateral move to Texas and didnt take a promotion with play-calling duties as stated was needed for such a move in his contract. The sides settled, and Wickline says there are no hard feelings. Its another game, were all professionals, its business, and we take care of the student-athletes, he said. We take care of whats at hand, where were at, and we kind of dismiss that and move on to the next thing.THE OTHER GUYJames Washington is Oklahoma States most accomplished receiver, but Jalen McCleskey is its most consistent. He leads the team with 38 catches, and he has four touchdowns this season. Washington was limited to one catch for nine yards last week against Kansas, but McCleskey stepped up with six catches for 129 yards.KICKIN ITBen Grogan became Oklahoma States all-time leading scorer last week against Kansas. He passed Dan Bailey, who now kicks for the Dallas Cowboys. Grogan, the leading active scorer in the Big 12, has made his past seven field-goal attempts.MUCH IMPROVEDWest Virginias Skyler Howards passer rating (157.4) is 23 points higher than last season. He ranks 15th nationally in yards passing per game and 14th in passer efficiency rating. He has improved most in taking care of the ball -- he has gone the past two games without throwing an interception and has thrown just four interceptions this season after throwing 14 in 13 games last year.OPPORTUNISTIC DOklahoma State doesnt always stop its opponents, but when it does, its usually with a turnover. The Cowboys lead the Big 12 with 16 turnovers forced -- eight fumbles and eight interceptions. Devante Averette already has recovered three fumbles this season and forced two, and Jordan Sterns and Ramon Richards both have intercepted two passes.---More AP college football: www.collegefootball.ap.org---Follow Cliff Brunt on Twitter (at)CliffBruntAP Michael McCrary Jersey . RIO DE JANEIRO -- Martin Kaymer is tired of talking about the golfers who arent at the Olympics.Even before the first shot is hit Thursday -- the official return of Olympic golf for the first time in 112 years -- Kaymer has spent enough time at other sports and with other athletes to remember whats important. And, for him, its not money. The most inspiring moment was meeting Andreas Toba in the elevator at the Olympic Village after the German gymnasts brave performance. Toba badly injured his knee during the floor exercise in team competition. Fighting through pain, he managed to go through the pommel horse routine and helped Germany advance to the finals.Compared to them, we are so weak in terms of our attitude sometimes, Kaymer said Wednesday. They do that sport with so much passion. They put all their heart in there. Some players, even from other sports, they dont come here. And you think, `How can you not want to come here? To meet those people ... that is why we all started our sport. When we were 12 or 15 years old, we went on the range. We didnt do it for money. We went because it was our love, what we wanted to do.When you play a sport where you make a lot of money, theres a good chance you lose a little bit of that passion.Kaymer did not single out any of the 21 golfers who withdrew from the Rio Games, nor did he suggest that every golfer is driven by money. He just doesnt understand why anyone would miss a moment like this. And it made him realize there is more to sport than winning majors and cashing in by accepting appearance fees around the world. Above all, it made him realize that I didnt do anything wrong by coming here.He cited the overloaded schedule -- three majors and a World Golf Championship in a seven-week span before he left for Rio -- and the PGA Tour players who begin the FedEx Cup playoffs with the $35 million in bonus money right after the Olympics are over.At the end of the day, I think most athletes really do it for the money, Kaymer said. Im not saying everybody does it, but a lot of the guys, they do things for money these days.Another meaningful moment forr Kaymer was sitting down with Germanys field hockey team the other day.ddddddddddddThey dont make anything, he said. The pride they have in where they are from and what they do and what they can do here in these two weeks, its all they have for four years. And we dont show any appreciation for those guys.Instead, so much of the conversation has been the top players sitting out golfs return to the Olympics. Most of the absentees cited the Zika virus. Others mentioned schedules and their priorities, and there was underlying concern of security and safety.Golf provides a comfortable lifestyle. Five players on the PGA Tour already have crossed the $5 million mark for the season going into the lucrative FedEx Cup playoffs. Kaymer knows he has it good. He happens to play a sport that gets more recognition than the athletes that have inspired him this week. But the actual work? The results? If you sit in a canoe or do rowing or jumping or whatever, they are the best in the world, he said. They dont have the status that we have, but that doesnt mean they are worse. The Olympic theme, that everyone is the same, I enjoy that.I enjoy so much to be with people who know why theyre here and why they do what they do, and they give it their all.Kaymer can only hope his peculiar habit of producing great moments in even-numbered years continues. He won the PGA Championship in 2010 for his first major. His par putt under enormous pressure gave Europe the decisive point in its Ryder Cup victory in 2012. He won the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 in 2014.He would love to leave Rio with a gold medal around his neck. And he doesnt care whos at Olympic Golf Course. Its not easy to win, he said. The great thing about golf right now if from 60 players, probably 40 or 45 can win. Its a little disrespectful that they talk more about the people who stay home. And if he doesnt win a medal? That doesnt change a thing. No matter what happens this week, he said, its the greatest week of my life. ' ' '
